Horsham Township Scores Exceptional on Safest Places to Live in Pennsylvania
Township Manager William Walker is proud to announce that Horsham, Pennsylvania has been selected as one of the Safest Cities in Pennsylvania for 2016. A recent study using crime data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report ranks Horsham Township in the top 40 out of 2,562 municipalities in Pennsylvania.They scored each town based on violent and property crime data to come up with a composite score. The score factors included population size, murders, rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies, motor vehicle thefts and arsons. The study reported that Horsham Township Community policing efforts is the philosophy behind their very low crime rate. Horsham Township offers a variety of programs that support communication between the Police Department and community. A couple of examples are the ChAT’s program and the Citizen Police Academy. The ChAT’s program is an organized effort to get the citizens of Horsham more involved with their community. The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 10 week course that educates residents on a variety of day to day Policing Duties. President Deborah Tustin stated “On behalf of Horsham Council we are pleased to be ranked one of the safest cities in Pennsylvania.
