There are two options for Horsham Residents to get rid of their unwanted/unused prescription medication.
Option 1: The Horsham Police Department has a drop box to collect unused and out-of-date medications and prescriptions for proper disposal. The collection box is accessible 24 hours a day and allows our residents to drop off their unwanted medications.
Many teens abusing medicines get them from the bathroom cabinet, a friend or a family member, often without their knowledge. Unwanted medicines left in the home endanger our children, seniors, and pets. Young children and seniors are at risk of accidental poisoning. Flushing drugs send them into our water supplies while throwing them in the trash pollute our environment and can find their way into unwanted hands.
Residents can anonymously place the medications in the disposal site added to the lobby of the Horsham Township Police Station. All forms of medication, including tablets, capsules, pills, liquids and ointments, whether purchased by prescription or over-the-counter, will be accepted. However, sharpies and syringes cannot be accepted due to the potential hazards posed by blood-borne pathogens.
*NO NEEDLES*

Option 2: Horsham Township Police Department offers the Drug Take Back Event twice a year. Visit
www.dea.org for exact dates of each event.
This program is absolutely anonymous and all efforts should be made to protect the anonymity of individuals disposing of medications. No questions or requests for identification will be made by law enforcement personnel present.
