Emergency Management

Winter Emergency Management Emergency Management is that function of Township government specifically responsible for coordinating our community's response to major emergencies. The Emergency Management Organization is not a replacement for, or an addition to Police, Fire, Rescue, Highway Department, or other response units, but a system for coordinating and managing various municipal, volunteer and private resources to effectively prepare for, respond to and recover from a community crisis.

The Horsham Township Office of Emergency Management team consists of the Township Fire Marshal who is the designated Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator for Horsham Township, the Police Department, Horsham Fire Company, Emergency Medical Response personnel, Highway Department and other municipal partners.  Together, the various departments and individuals have over 100 years of combined emergency management experience.

Emergency Preparedness

In March 2015, The Bi-Annual Review and Revision of our municipal emergency operations plan was conducted in conformance with the Federal, Pennsylvania and County Emergency Management Agencies' requirements.  Additionally, members of the emergency management team attend monthly training sessions at the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Preparedness in order to sharpen skills and maintain current certification levels.  Present members hold Pennsylvania Emergency Management Certifications at the Professional level.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Horsham Township's Office of Emergency Management is to serve the citizens of the Township through effective planning for natural and man-made disasters. Our goal is to save lives and protect property through the coordination of an integrated emergency management system with all emergency response organizations, support services and volunteers. We will be an advocate for greater community efforts, including educating the general public to mitigate and prepare for potential emergencies. We will support efforts to train and exercise emergency responders in both the public and private sectors. We will manage and coordinate efforts toward a rapid recovery from disasters with an effective disaster assistance program.

Ready MontCo: Ready MontCo

Ready MontCo is a system that helps local officials in Southeastern Pennsylvania send emergency text alerts and other important notifications to you quickly. Ready MontCo can send these to your cell phone, home phone and/or E-mail account. You decide how you'd like to be notified. These alerts are free; however, your cellular provider may charge for text messaging. You can receive emergency alerts and may choose to receive other alerts, such as weather warnings, transportation delays and crime information. To sign up, click on Ready MontCo to get started.

Registration Instructions:
Individuals and businesses are urged to log into www.readymontco.org and follow to the Montgomery County registration page.  

Page 1 - Required information page. This page will include creation of user name, first and last name, password, security question and email registration.

Page 2 – How to contact page. This page will give man options of contact – text, phone, or e-mail. It is important to remember if you list the same telephone number in all listed boxes the same message will be delivered. Please only apply one telephone number to avoid receiving repeated messages.

Page 3 – Add a location page. This page will include location name, county, and address. Select your listed address.

Page 4 - Very Important - under My Alerts – community info - check Horsham only (this guarantees that you will only receive alerts for Horsham Township, not all of Montgomery County).

Page 5 - My information page. This page will ask if the resident applying for alerts has any special needs or medical conditions. This information will be provided to the Township but should not be used as the primary source of assistant for the person with the disability.

Page 6 - Review the information page. This page will give an opportunity to make sure all the residents information has been entered correctly. After review click the finish button. The resident should see a green box confirming the profile has been created successfully.
