The Township Manager, appointed by Township Council, is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Township. In addition to long-range planning and fiscal management, the Manager implements all policies, ordinances, resolutions and other official directives of the Township Council. The manager also assists citizens in finding information about Township services, handling citizen complaints and managing a comprehensive public information program.
The Township Manager appoints all other department heads not appointed by Township Council and is also responsible for the direction and supervision of those departments of the Township. The Township Manager attends meetings of the Township Council with the right to participate in the discussion, but without the right to vote on ordinances and resolutions. Although the manager is responsible to the council, the proposals and recommendations submitted to the governing body for the consideration must reflect the needs of the community and be in the best interest of the municipality.
